Utah's 4th Congressional District


Utah's 4th Congressional District is located along the south side of the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Area, concentrated in the Salt Lake and Utah counties. The district has a population of 805,000. The most jobs are in Retail Trade (44,000), Health Care and Social Assistance (35,000), and Manufacturing (28,000). Median household income is at $73,000. There are no Fortune 1000 companies in the district. Similar to the rest of Utah, a majority of the population is Mormon.

Partisanship

Following the 2010 census, Utah gained one seat in the House, so the State Senate drew up the new 4th district. Utah's 4th has a voter index of R +13, meaning that it is 13 percentage points more Republican than the nation as a whole. The 2016 Presidential Election ended with Trump winning 39% to Clinton's 32%, and independent candidate Evan McMullin winning 22% of the vote, drawing mostly from Republicans.
